  • Description: This is a fundamental course for women and men who would like to take up the hobby of woodworking. Each student will learn, step by step, the machinery used in a woodworking shop with emphasis on safety and proper user techniques.   • Class: Cabinet Making
  • Description: Whether you are building a kitchen, entertainment center, bathroom or a built-in china cabinet, the basics of building the cabinet is the same. This course deals with the use of man-made materials like melamines, veneers, plastic laminates and how to use them. You will learn cabinet construction techniques, hinge boring, edge banding, machining and assembly.

  • Description: This fundamental course is designed to introduce the novice to turning. Fundamentals of the lathe, tools and safety will be discussed, followed by demonstrations of proper sharpening techniques, basic spindle and face plate turning. Each student will experience “hands on” education and will leave the course with sufficient knowledge to either make a wise purchase or run their existing lathe to its full capacity.

  • Description: A class designed for ladies who are new to woodturning. Emphasis will be on safety uisng the wood lathe and proper use of the various turning tools. The project is a 7 inch open faced bowl that should be finished within the 4 hour class. Material sots of $15.00 applies.

  • Description: Using rough lumber is the most economical way to build your furniture projects usually costing 1/3 or less than finished wood. Along with this though comes the problems of carved, warped, twisted and crooked lumber and you will be shown how to straighten it. A thorough look at the set-up, adjustments and proper techniques of using the thickness planer and the jointer will be learned.

  • Description: Furniture makers find the tablesaw and bandsaw to be indispensable in the workshop. This course focuses on safety, blade selection, cutting techniques, special jigs and “tricks of the trade”. You will learn dadoing, tenoning, mitering, resawing, radius cutting, proper set-up and maintenance.

  • Description: This course is perfect for the beginner. You will learn a good variety of techniques where a minimum investment in tools is required. Learn tool selection and function, sharpening and maintenance for the foundation you need for a life time of carving enjoyment. Tools and a $15 material charge for 2 precut carving blanks are extra.

  • Description: For those who are already comfortable around carving tools, we offer Carving- The Next Step. You will have the choice of your own project, whether it be relief, pierced or in the round, or join Peter with his chosen project. You will learn the little extras that help bring your carving to life. Peter will offer to supply the carving blank and pattern for an extra $15.00 material fee.

  • Description: All shops benefit from the use of jigs and templates. A well-designed jig makes your work safer, easier and more efficient. Templates ensure that you get accurate, repeatable results every time. This course demonstrates a variety of jigs for the tablesaw, bandsaw, drill press, router and more. There will also be discussion on the effective design & construction of jigs so that you can create your own customized shop solutions.

  • Description: Want to build a shop but you’re not sure where to start? Or you have a shop and are not pleased with your layout? This course is for you. Learn the basics of shop design, machinery and power tool selection. Questions will be raised to focus on design considerations for your personal needs, thereby creating a space that will cater to you.

  • Description: This 10 week course is designed for students who have a basic foundation in the safe operation of woodworking machinery. With a focus on project planning, dimensioning of solid lumber and structural joinery, students will each build a simple tapered leg table using mortise and tenon construction. A good foundation of knowledge on planers, table saws and band saws required. Materials are extra.
