Compression Bits

Compression router bits combine up-cut and down-cut spiral flutes into a single tool to deliver completely smooth, tear-out-free edges on both the top and bottom surfaces of a workpiece.

Up-cut tip: The very bottom of the bit pulls wood fibers and chips upward into the cut, preventing splintering on the bottom edge of the material. Down-cut upper flutes: The rest of the bit pushes wood fibers downward, sealing the top edge against chipping or delamination. Transition point: The change from up-cut to down-cut usually sits about 3/16 of an inch from the tip. Full-depth passes deeper than this transition point are required to engage both actions and achieve a clean finish on both sides.

Widely used in automated CNC nesting and handheld or table-mounted setups for precise edge-trimming and full-depth profiling.Perfect for double-sided veneered boards, melamine, and MDF where top and bottom splintering commonly occurs.

For best performance we offer our Stinger VenomBlue router bits, that feature a KCR05+ Carbide material with a AlTiSiN-B coating, which allows for exceptionally fast feed rates and 5x longer tool life.
