Engraving Bits

Engraving Router Bits are small, fine-pointed bits used to cut detailed lines, lettering, and decorative designs into the surface of a material rather than removing large amounts of stock. Think of it as a pen for your router or CNC. The V shape means the width of the cut changes with depth. A shallow pass makes a thin line, and a deeper pass makes a wider one. That lets you vary line weight just by changing the cutting depth, which is why they’re popular for V-carving. Common uses include:

  • Engraving text, logos, and signs
  • Fine detail work on wood, acrylic, soft metals like brass and aluminum, and plastics
  • V-carving lettering where letters are sharp and crisp inside
  • Inlay work (the V-carve technique is often used to make matching pockets and plugs)
  • Cleaning up tight corners and detail that a larger bit can’t reach

The Stinger VenomBlue coated V-Groove router bits are designed for high-performance and long cutting life. The upcut spiral on this solid carbide cutter pulls the dust up and out of the groove it’s creating, resulting in longer tool life and highly detailed engravings. We have specially designed this cutter to be used on CNC routers, but they are an excellent choice for traditional handheld routers and router tables.
