The Wave Cutter Forstner bits hand forged in Austria by family owned Fisch Cutting Tools are truly in a class of their own as a premium tool for woodworkers.

Fisch’s Wave Cutter Forstner bits feature a wavy rim that guides the bit with all the precision of a traditional Forstner, but with less friction and heat buildup. The razor sharp serrations slice through the grain for minimal splintering, while also breaking up the waste for better chip clearance. The result is a bit that cuts faster and lasts up to three times as long as a standard Forstner bit. Use them to drill angled holes, overlapping holes and flat-bottom holes that are precisely true-to-size. They also excel at drilling into end grain without deflecting.

When choosing a forstner bit there are generally three styles of cutting edges, smooth edge, saw tooth edge and wavy edge. There are many choices of lower cost forstner bits and all will cut flat bottom holes but there are differences in the cut when using different styles and qualities of bit. The smooth edge bits tend to heat up in the cut so the user is limited to only a couple holes at a time and shallow cuts. These bits tend to have the shortest lifespan. The saw tooth bits stay cooler cutting but because there are teeth all around the outside edge they can in certain drilling operations pull to one side or another causing less accurate hole drilling. The Wave design used by Fisch allows the bit to drill very clean accurate holes with very little heat buildup therefore increasing the life of the bits. There have been tests done drilling hundreds of holes in hardwoods with a single Fisch Wave bits to try to heat it up or dull it and it was still able to drill fresh precision holes in delicate materials.

Woodworkers will love using these premium tools.
