Jorgensen #4 Smoothing Plane

Description

Jorgensen Tools has designed an all-new line of bench planes using premium materials and workmanship. Precisely made, fit and finished, these planes are ready right out of the box and minimum honing is required. Made of Ductile Iron which is far stronger and more resilient than traditional grey iron, these planes absorb vibrations and are highly resistant to cracking if they happen to fall to the floor. They are also internally stress relived by soaking them at high temperatures and cooling slowly over 48 hours to ensure the castings stay true over time. The planes are ready to use right out of the box with a flat tolerance of under 0.005″. The blades are thicker and stronger than most at 3mm thickness heavy gauge O1 cold stamped steel. The chip breaker on this plane is 3 mm thick with a 0.015” lip ground at a 2-degree angle. This provides excellent contact between the leading edge of the chip breaker and the blade.

With a little love and care this #4 smoothing plane will compete with hand planes at far higher price points.
