They are designed to provide precise controllable impact, without rebound on a carving tool, while being easy on the wrist and elbow. They are very well-balanced mallet which are not for striking or making deep cuts but rather for lightly tapping when making very controlled detailing cuts. The MK450 is a 1 pound (450g) mallet with an overall length of slightly more than 7-1/2″, with a head diameter of 47mm (1.85″). The MK700 is a 1.54 pound (700g) mallet with an overall length of slightly more than 8-1/2″, with a head diameter of 49mm (1.9″).
