The Pfeil long bent Gouges are forged in the same sweep as the standard full size #5, #7 and #8 gouges but with an additional lengthwise bend in the blade making these chisels very useful for roughing out and smoothing concave sections on a sculpture or when hollowing out bowls. As seen in the attached pictures the carver simply picks the sweep of gouge they are looking for and then the width of blade required for the best results in the project.
