Canadian Woodworker is a family owned company with a history that dates back more than four decades. In 1967, Mel Moore purchased a saw sharpening and industrial supply business in Winnipeg Manitoba from Fred Borton and began living his dream of operating a successful woodworking machinery and supply company. What was originally Borton’s Saw Service evolved into Canadian Woodworker.
Today, Mel’s son and daughter, Cole Moore and Erin Thompson, own and operate the company. They have been working in the company full time for over 30 years—even more if you include the child labour involving counting inventories, painting washrooms, opening mail, emptying garbage etc.
In 2005 we opened our second store in Calgary, Alberta and in 2009 we expanded again with new stores in Edmonton, Alberta and Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. With the continued success of our expansion we added our fifth store… our largest… in Surrey, BC in late 2010.
With the expansion of our news stores has come many new great partners of supply on both the hobby side and industrial machinery side of the woodworking business. We are very pleased to represent the manufacturers you see on this website.
